Krieger_Tactics: TEOTWAWKI: Main Battle Rifle (Part 2)

Why the term, “Main Battle Rifle”?

This posts deals with the term, “Main Battle Rifle,” which I used in Part 1 of this series.

MAIN BATTLE RIFLE
I choose the term “Main Battle Rifle” as opposed to “AR” or any of several other descriptive terms that could be applied due to the mindset and purpose of its anticipated use in my life.

REAL-WORLD APPLICATION
Part of the validation process of my articles (by you, the reader), especially the TEOTWAWKI series, is uncovering my mindset and the view with which I approach the TEOTWAWKI possibility.  Within the articles that I share I want to show you that I’m not writing and or regurgitating something that I read without having validated the information myself.  I want you to know that I am not the person on the range who looks flashy, or that has the coolest gear, or who says all the latest buzzwords, yet who’s whose mindset is completely impractical, unrealistic and false.

I want you, the readers, the commenters and the sharers of the posts to know that EVERYTHING I say, do and teach is based on real world experiences (of myself or coworkers), or as close as I can predict an event will occur – based on my (past and present) real world experiences.

THE APPROPRIATE TERM
The term AR, does not carry the thought process that I want to convey to the readers.

For me, the rifle pictured (and its near identical counterpart) has one purpose.

That purpose is its employment, in battle, by me in the defense of myself, my family or others against others who would do us harm.

I pray that day never comes.

My rifle is not for show, it’s not for instruction, it’s not to impress my buddies when they come over, or to make me feel good about myself.

My rifle is not for show, it’s not for instruction, it’s not to impress my buddies when they come over, or to make me feel good about myself.

My rifle is for… battle.

It is therefore, if you would allow, a “Battle Rifle”.

  • I use it in classes, so that I can employ it better in battle.
  • I use it in classes so that the students and I can discuss it, will understand the thought process and they will then consider setting up their rifles like mine so that it will serve them better in battle.
  • I shoot it at the range, so that I can employ it better in battle.
  • I show it to my buddies when they come over, so that they can see it, we can discuss it and they will consider setting up their rifles like mine so that it will serve them better in battle.

I want the idea to flourish that a rifle’s primary purpose in my life is the preservation of life in… Battle.

MAIN
The “Main” that I added to the term “Battle Rifle” is because I have many rifles, but not each one is set up to carry me into battle with the accessories that I prefer attached.  Those are typically rifles that I provide for use at the range by parties interested in purchasing a rifle but are not very knowledgeable about them.

READY AND PACKED
I have two “Main Battle Rifles.”  They are set up nearly identically.  The only difference between the two is that one has a two-point sling and one has a single point sling that I can easily disconnect.  One of the rifles I use almost entirely in classes. The other stays packed up in the “Get Home Bag” that I featured in one of my posts.

If there is one “take-away” from this post, it would be,

Identify whether your rifle is set up to support you in your endeavor to survive in a TEOTWAWKI situation or not.  Mine is and thus I reference it appropriately.
